Saleblazers

A shopkeeping survival sim with real ideas, undone by an update that broke as much as it added.

Saleblazers mixes running a shop with surviving an open world: stock shelves, negotiate with customers, then head out to farm, fish, or fight with whatever you're carrying, since almost anything you pick up doubles as a weapon. Airstrafe Interactive built real range into the loop, hireable staff, PvP shop invasions, co-op play, and nearly three years into Early Access the game still hasn't settled on a final shape.

The shop side has real depth: furniture and product layout matter, skill trees offer more than one viable path through progression, and the anime-inflected art carries a soundtrack reviewers single out as a strength. Big Boss Battle called the shopkeeping-survival mashup a fun combination even through its rough edges.

The jank is the real story. Steam bug threads document NPCs stuck behind furniture, a zipline that vanishes mid-traverse, clothing that disappears on relogin, and multiplayer sessions that lose inventory on reconnect. Performance reports range from a laptop barely holding 60fps on the lowest settings to co-op sessions that freeze for half a minute once a third player joins. A May 2026 "Immersive Update" rebuilt the art style and movement and added voiced NPCs, and the backlash was immediate and specific: reviewers with 70-plus hours logged say the new art style is disorienting, the signature use-anything-as-a-weapon mechanic got worse, and combat turned clunkier than before. One recent review put it plainly: it pains me that I cannot recommend it in its current state.

All-time Steam reviews still read Mostly Positive at roughly 79 percent, built up over three years before the recent update. The last 30 days tell the current story: Mixed, 40 percent, a direct reaction to the changes above. No critic aggregator has reviewed this game at all, Metacritic and OpenCritic both carry zero scores, so the shift shows up only in player sentiment, and it shows up hard.

Skip it, at least until the current build settles. The shopkeeping-survival idea is still there underneath, but a recent update broke enough of it that the game earned its Mixed recent score the hard way.
